Evaluation of autonomous AI agents requires moving beyond static code generation benchmarks (like HumanEval or MBPP). Pheron Agent is evaluated using AgentTestMethodology v8, a framework-agnostic universal test methodology comprising 94 core capability test blocks mapped across dozens of academic and industry agent benchmarks (including SWE-bench, GAIA, OSWorld, WebArena, and τ-bench).

[!NOTE] Tool Coverage is the largest gap — and the dominant cause is the test environment, not the agent. 14 of the 28 blocks in this tier are
needs_review. Of those, 11 areSTATE-typed blocks whose 22 individualneeds_reviewtrials all share one identical, mechanical cause: the agent's own pre-task RAM-pressure gate declining the run ("test machine resource-starved") — this test machine ranxcodebuild/swift test/the local model concurrently for the full multi-hour battery, and the gate correctly refused to start a trial whenever memory was critical. This is the gate working as designed, not agent misbehavior — but it does mean this run's Tool Coverage tier under-represents what a dedicated, unloaded test machine would show. Only 1 block (L3-TOOL-17, Notion) cleanly reflects an unconnected external service (4/5 trials: tool consistently never called). Separately, 1 block (L3-TOOL-13) was excluded from this snapshot after repeatedly deadlocking on an infrastructure-level build-lock conflict — root-caused and fixed the same day (see §4). Fixed by giving the tool's build call an isolated--scratch-path. Verified live: 0/5 real completions before the fix (always a 1100–1200s timeout) → 4/5 real PASS completions in under 2.5 minutes each after the fix, with the 1 remaining non-pass being an unrelated hardware resource-pressure gate hit, not a build failure.
